Fishing Hut and Traps, Shkodra, Albania

This is one of my all-time favorite photos! We had climbed up to the Rozafa Castle, and I peered over one of the walls to the river below. I spotted this small, yellow fishing hut and the intricate rush fencing, probably used to trap or keep fish close to the shore. I didn’t have a tripod, but I steadied my camera on the wall, and got some great shots of this serene moment.

The Hidden Garden – Berat, Albania

We made several visits to Berat, Albania. It’s an historic, picturesque town, with the citadel on the hill. The villagers’ houses and gardens are lovely. I caught a glimpse of these bright blankets hanging on the clothes line in one of the yards. The sun was illuminating the blankets perfectly. What a perfect day to air the bedding and enjoy the sunshine in the garden!
